Veronica Maldonado, RN, is a seasoned Registered Nurse with 15 years of clinical experience, currently providing specialized care at Wurzbach Nursing and Rehabilitation in the San Antonio area. Known for her compassionate approach and strong clinical expertise, she continues to make a meaningful impact in rehabilitation nursing, supporting patients through recovery with dignity, empathy, and evidence-based care.
Veronica earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from the San Antonio College School of Nursing in 2011 and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds the Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential and is also a FEMA Nurse, underscoring her commitment to both specialized rehabilitation care and emergency preparedness.
Before entering bedside nursing, Veronica built extensive experience in healthcare administration and operations. She served as a supervisor for a bariatric general surgery practice with five surgeons and later played a pivotal role in launching a community health center in Austin, Texas. That initiative grew from serving zero patients to more than 10,000 individuals and included the development of a dedicated refugee clinic. These early leadership experiences strengthened her understanding of healthcare systems and reinforced her passion for expanding access to care for diverse and underserved populations.
Veronica is also a member of the Human Rights Advocacy Group in the United States, a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and a Legal Nurse Consultant, reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional excellence and health equity.
Her career journey is marked by resilience and determination. While balancing full-time work and full-time academic studies, she overcame financial challenges to achieve her educational and professional goals. Growing up on a ranch, Veronica developed an early instinct to care for others, an experience that helped shape her lifelong calling in nursing.
