Winston, Georgia — Accomplished emergency nursing executive and healthcare innovator Julia Ann Bossie, MSN, RN, CEN, CNL, TCRN, CPEN, continues to drive transformational change in emergency healthcare delivery through her leadership at Wellstar Health System and her extensive contributions to emergency nursing nationwide.
Currently serving as Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist for Emergency Services at Wellstar Health System’s Center for Nursing Excellence, Bossie leads policy and practice standardization initiatives across multiple emergency departments while spearheading operational integration, leadership coaching, and clinical innovation efforts throughout the organization.
With more than two decades of emergency and critical care experience, Bossie has become widely recognized for advancing patient flow efficiency, emergency department throughput, behavioral health safety, and nursing education initiatives. Her leadership has directly contributed to significant operational improvements, including reducing orientation timelines by 30 percent, generating more than $660,000 in organizational savings, and dramatically improving emergency department staffing and patient experience outcomes.
During her tenure as Emergency Department Director, Bossie successfully reduced operational nursing gaps by 95 percent over three years, increased employee engagement scores by 50 percent, and elevated patient experience metrics from the 30th percentile to above the 60th percentile.

She also serves as President-Elect of Sigma Theta Tau’s Mu Phi Chapter and will assume the presidency in July 2026. In addition, she is the President-Elect of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Georgia – Lorene Newberry Chapter and will serve as Chapter President in 2027.
A respected speaker, educator, and published author, Bossie has presented nationally on topics including emergency department transformation, behavioral health standardization, workplace violence prevention, diversity and inclusion in healthcare, and emergency department intake redesign. Her work has been featured through Vizient national conferences, ENA national meetings, and peer-reviewed healthcare publications.
